British Bodybuilding British Bodybuilding for men & women is thriving. Bodybuilders in gyms all over the UK are "pumping iron" in their efforts to compete in bodybuilding competitions held by the various organisations that exist in the UK. everyone has their own opinion of these organisations so below is simply our own opinions which some will agree with and others disagree - but that is what makes life interesting. One other thing that is perhaps not so interesting is the spelling! Some organisations use Body Building as 2 separate words & the initials BB whereas others use it as just Bodybuilding & just the B - if we cannot agree on how to spell the word its no wonder some of the judging results are "mixed".
In no particular order we have: BNBF - British Natural Bodybuilders Federation. Having been to many of their shows we have always found this to be an excellent organisation with good ( though sometimes too long) judging standards - for anyone looking to go the 100% natural way then we would definitely recommend the BNBF. EFBB - now the UKBFF Officially the English , but in reality the UK arm of the IFBB ( International Federation of Bodybuilders). EFBB /UKBFFhold well organised shows all over the UK and is the stepping board for anyone looking to become a serious professional bodybuilder - no other organisation has the marketing muscle or financial clout to match the IFBB - most UK shows are very well run & well judged. NABBA - National Amateur Body Builders Association. NABBA hold shows all over the UK , and despite the title, all over the world. NABBA perhaps should have been the world dominant force in a Bodybuilding organisation but poor organisation and internal politics have always held it back. Some NABBA regional shows are amongst the best you will find , others are not. WPF - World Physique Federation. We have only been to one of their shows the SPF but the general impression was that of a well run show & an organisation which could do well with the right marketing and promotional activities behind it.
